The best gamers from around the world will be competing for a full $30 million prize pool, after already earning part of a $10 million prize pool from qualifications. U.S. District Judge Aileen M. Cannon authorized an independent expert to examine nearly 13,000 records seized during the FBI’s raid of Trump’s Florida home on August 8. In a legal victory for Trump, Cannon also temporarily halted the Department of Justice (DOJ) from reviewing the records or using them in its criminal investigation. The DOJ strongly objected to the appointment of a special master last week. In a 36-page filing, the agency argued that Trump should not be subject to an executive privilege review, given that he is a former president and the FBI is part of the current executive branch....

More direct payments have support from at least 80 Democrats in Congress, as well as Vice President Kamala Harris, who sponsored a bill for recurring payments last year as a senator....

Now, 64 Washington lawmakers want relief checks to be recurring, starting with a fourth stimulus while many are still waiting on paper checks from the government. A group of 11 progressive senators, including Bernie Sanders (I-VT) and Elizabeth Warren (D-Mass.), earlier this month urged Biden to make stimulus payments and extended unemployment an ongoing thing during the next spending bill. “We urge you to include recurring direct payments and automatic unemployment insurance extensions tied to economic conditions in your Build Back Better long-term economic plan,” the senators wrote to the president....
