According to Phoenix-based ABC15, police said they raced to the woman’s home in the area of 6th Street and Broadway Road, in Phoenix, just after 7 a.m. Tuesday morning following reports of a dog attack. The outlet added that when officers arrived they found Maria Ruiz, 77, in a critical condition. Police said she was taken to a nearby hospital where she died from her injuries. Investigators later learned Ruiz had been on her front porch when four Staffordshire Terrier mix dogs attacked and killed Ruiz....

Minnesota Attorney General Keith Ellison, the lead prosecutor in the case, charged former officer Derek Chauvin, who was seen in a video kneeling on Floyd’s neck, with second-degree felony murder on Wednesday. Three other officers–Tou Thao, J. Alexander Kueng and Thomas Lane–were charged with aiding and abetting second-degree murder; and aiding and abetting second-degree manslaughter. All four officers face equal time behind bars for their involvement in Floyd’s death on May 25....

Stephen Michael Freeman, of Katy, Texas, pleaded guilty to the charge in U.S. District Court in Augusta, U.S. Attorney Bobby L. Christine said, and agreed in a plea deal to a sentence of 36 months in federal prison and has paid $157,493.70 in community restitution. At sentencing, the court may accept or reject Freeman’s plea agreement. Freeman’s parents, Steven Lee Freeman and Diane Freeman, have agreed to pay $59,000 each in community restitution....

The Change.org petition, launched by Denver restaurant owner Stephanie Bonin last year, urges the U.S. House and Senate to deliver legislation to support families with a “$2,000 payment for adults and a $1,000 payment for kids immediately, and continuing regular checks for the duration of the crisis.” The petition has gained more than 2,854,500 signatures as of Saturday, with about 127,700 new supporters over the past four weeks. Macron met with King Philippe of Belgium, who was with his wife Queen Mathilde, as they took their seats Tuesday shortly before kickoff.
