Sukhbir Singh made the announcement as he presided over the Baba Farid gold hockey cup tournament in Faridkot yesterday. He mentioned that the state government was keen on promoting sports in the state and for that for this purpose the state budget for sports had been boosted to Rs. 142 crore for the current fiscal year.

Sukhbir Singh added that the facilities would provide athletes with a hi-tech state of the art training

To ensure world class facilities in the coming up centres of excellence including the hi-tech training environment for both sportspersons and professional coaches. He also said that efforts were on to ensure maximum participation on the part of the players in national as well as international sporting events.

The 4th Kabbadi World Cup is to be held in Punjab between November 9 and November 23.
