Forza Horizon 5 won numerous awards at The Game Awards, and apparently it passed 15 million players just a few days ago, making it a massive critical as well as commercial success for Microsoft. Most modern games receive post-launch updates that add or improve certain aspects, and developer Playground Games has just released a post that details various updates that will be coming to Forza Horizon 5 throughout 2022.

The post starts by saying that the team is back in office, and has begun working on fixes as well as improving the overall experience. It then lists out certain areas that are currently being worked on, and reassures fans that these Forza Horizon 5 updates will be rolled out as soon as possible. The post then confirms that many more issues are also being worked on, before thanking fans for their continued feedback and input.

Here are the major fixes highlighted by Playground Games:

Accolades - We know players have experienced issues with Accolades not unlocking or resetting and we understand how frustrating this can be. We’re also aware of misleading descriptions that are confusing for players. We’re continuing to work through addressing these and you’ll see more fixed in the next update. EventLab - Based on the feedback we have received from you, our top priority is introducing the ability to save and edit EventLab content post-creation. We’re currently working on this and hope to release in an upcoming update. Festival Playlist - We know the Festival Playlist has been an area of concern for Forza Horizon 5 players. We’re taking the necessary steps to ensure that future challenges and objectives can be completed by all players. In addition, we’re working on a solution to retroactively apply points for bugged Daily Challenges and Treasure Hunt events in Series 1 and Series 2. This will also unlock the “Min, Meet Max” achievement for those who had completed all other events and challenges within a series. Stay tuned for additional details. In the meantime, we’re aware of an issue that shows the incorrect total value of Series Points earned by some players when viewing a previous Series Playlist. Our team has identified that this is caused by the auto-completion of the Horizon Tour in each season and we’re currently investigating a solution. Wheels - We’re investigating numerous issues around wheel support in Forza Horizon 5, especially for the PC version. These include a crash when closing pop ups or Wheelspins with a Fanatec wheel, missing wheel mapping on the Hori Force Feedback wheel and a lack of rumble functionality that is separate to force-feedback. We’re also looking into why the handbrake for Thrustmaster and Fanatec models does not work consistently for some users, as well as a specific Logitech wheel issue in which there is no longer any force feedback produced after suspending the title. Leaderboards - We’re investigating a solution to remedy erroneous lap times and high scores being posted to Rivals and PR Stunts leaderboards. This remains a high priority for our team and we hope to introduce new safeguards to tackle the situation around cheating in the future. We don’t expect this to be a quick fix but we’re committed to ensuring the leaderboards are fair and not compromised.

Judging by the section on Leaderboards, it seems like some players are using cheats in Forza Horizon 5 instead of earning their place at the top. The industry is no stranger to cheaters, as Call of Duty: Warzone players also reported an increase in use of hacks after a recent update. Playground Games has mentioned that this remains a high priority for the team, but unfortunately there is no quick fix for the cheating situation in Forza Horizon 5.

The post does not convey any time-frame for a majority of these fixes, and simply states that the developer is either actively working on, or investigating the issue. Regardless, it is great to see Playground Games being up-front and clear about these issues.

Microsoft had an excellent 2021 as Xbox Game Studios released Forza Horizon 5, Halo Infinite, Age of Empires 4, and Psychonauts 2 to critical acclaim this year. It’s an impressive list even without considering the unique exclusively nature of Deathloop, a game developed by a Microsoft owned studio which launched as a PS5 console exclusive. Microsoft has a lot of exciting games currently in development, including Starfield from Bethesda Game Studios, and fans can expect this trend to continue in 2022.

Forza Horizon 5 is now available on PC, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
