According to a message shared during a recent Reddit thread, Epic Games’ community manager for Fortnite, Nathan Mooney, broke the news to fans that the company currently has “no plans for Avengers outfits in the store.” With this being the first major crossover event to come to the game – and with the Marvel imprint easily being one of the world’s most well-known and renowned brands – there’s no doubt that the lack of such skins will be disappointing to players.
While the introduction of tomorrow’s Infinity War LTM in Fortnite won’t immediately usher in the inclusion of Avengers skins, it doesn’t necessarily mean that Epic Games won’t ever include outfits influenced by Marvel’s huge stable of superheroes. After all, Mooney didn’t explicitly say that the company would never incorporate such assets. Even so, there’s really no telling if such a venture will ever come to pass, as the red tape and huge fees related to licensing such iconic characters for in-game skins could be a major hurdle for Epic.
Taking all of this into consideration, should Epic Games and Marvel ever decide to actually team up for some Fortnite crossover skins, it’s safe to say that both companies would absolutely rake in the dough (as if the firms weren’t making enough money already). After all, Marvel has a nearly endless well of heroes and villains from which to draw inspiration, and a little bit of legwork has already been done to prove how much players want the mashup to happen, as one fan created a Black Panther skin not too long ago.
Fortnite is available now in early access for iOS, PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One.
